Product Details: The 1.8T Audis offer a unique blend of European
quality, comfort and style together with sporty and secure handling and a 110kW
and 210Nm turbocharged and Intercooled twin cam engine. In the past fitting a
BOV to these models was not as simple as it is for other cars, thanks to an ECU
that is particularly sensitive to vent-to-atmosphere BOV's. The GFB Hybrid,
Stealth FX and Deceptor Pro BOV's are THE best option for these cars; they won't
cause the ECU to illuminate the 'check engine' light, and will still give you
the signature BOV noise!
Designed as a replacement for recirculating-type factory valves, and also
for those who prefer to remain inconspicuous! Features superior boost holding
and throttle response compared to a standard factory unit, and looks great under
the bonnet too.
Take note of the following points, and fitting a GFB BOV to your Audi will
be simple.
1)
On all Audi turbo engines, the factory plastic Bosch diverter valve is installed
in the reverse direction to conventional bypass valves, with boost pressure
entering the side of the valve and dumping through the bottom. Therefore when
installing a GFB valve, it must be installed in the REVERSE direction compared
to the factory one (boost must enter the GFB unit through the bottom, and dump
through the side). This is essential for the valve to operate properly.
Incorrect orientation of a GFB valve will prevent the piston from opening.
2)
Many of the 1.8T engines use crimped-on hose clamps on the factory diverter
valves, which are not re-useable. New hose clamps are required for installation
in such cases.
