AEM pioneered the Cold Air induction system for sport compact cars in 1994.

A Cold Air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver the coolest air inlet temperatures possible. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders (think of your engine as a big air pump), and no company on the market can tune an inlet as well as we can. We also monitor fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during R&D to eliminate leaning the engine out and/or throwing a check engine light.

Our Cold Air systems are dyno-proven and tested against the competition to create more useable power than any other system of their kind. Short Ram Intakes

AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air systems and deliver the best performance, value and ease of installation than any other short inlet intake. Our Short Ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because we use less material to manufacture them.

During the development process, we found certain applications respond favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these applications (denoted in the search results page), we offer a Short Ram system only. We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. Please refer to our temperature testing procedures for more information.

High flow compressor 3" inlet elbow for Evo 8/9 (Evo 4-9) turbo. Light but rigid aluminum, replaces stock restrictive rubber hose. Compatible with the stock turbo or any stock location turbo. TIG welded construction, wrinkle black powdercoated. Specify turbo compressor inlet diamter. 2.5" stock or 4" (100mm) ported shroud inlet.

The turbo inlet hose sits between the MAF on the airbox and the the compressor inlet port on the turbo itself.

The stock rubber inlet hose found on the Evo 8/9 engine, while bigger than the average factory inlet hose, has an accordion (turbulence) inner passage as well as a restrictively small inner diameter that will limit peak flow (Horsepower).

When you graduate from the stock turbo and move to a unit that runs a larger compressor wheel, the stock inlet hose will compromise the operation of the larger wheel. In most cases, the efficiency of the larger wheel is drastically reduced and in some cases, NONE of the performance gains of the larger unit is realized because there is backpressure at the intake.

Symptoms of a max'ed out inlet hose are: Slow to hit full boost, limited peak HP/boost, sharp boost drop off at high revs.

On a 57/76mm (GT3076R) compressor wheel, we saw quicker spool throughout as well as a 35HP difference and nearly 50 ft/lb of peak torque.

When ordering, please select the diameter of the compressor housing inlet on your turbo so that we can include the proper transition hose to go to the 3" pipe in this kit.
